Operation Clean Sweep NZ – In the Spotlight
Many of you may have caught the recent NZ Herald article highlighting nurdle (plastic bead) pollution on Auckland beaches. The condition of the beads along with information on ocean currents in the area highlights that these have likely leaked from sites handling raw plastics within the Auckland region.
Given this public scrutiny, the recent upgrades to the Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) NZ programme couldn’t be more timely! Our very own Rachel Barker gave a strong interview, highlighting the importance of the programme and the work we’ve done to improve industry practices. If your company is handling raw material, now is the time to ensure you're protected – and visible – as an OCS NZ certified participant. Certified sites are listed on the OCS NZ website, offering reassurance to regulators and the public that best practice is in place.
If you don’t directly handle raw materials but are connected through your supply chain (e.g. logistics, warehousing, packaging), you can participate as a Supporter for free by encouraging your suppliers or customers to join.
