Plastics New Zealand is saddened to inform you of the recent passing of two long term Industry Members who have both contributed greatly to the Plastic Industry throughout the years. Our Sincere Condolences to their families, friends and work colleagues.

 

Frank GalantaiFrank (Ferenc) Galantai – Galantai Plastics Ltd

 
Frank Galantai passed away peacefully on 28th November 2017 at Mercy Hospice.

Frank established Galantai Plastics over 30 years ago, a company specialising in custom injection moulding and toolmaking. Galantai Plastics joined Plastics New Zealand in 1997 and for the past twenty years Frank and his son Rod have been regular attendees at the various PNZ events and have won several awards in the Plastics New Zealand Industry Design Awards. 

Frank was one of the worlds real gents. He spent many years contributing to the local community and was heavily involved in the Eastern Suburbs and Sacred Heart College Soccer. Galantai Plastics has also been a major sponsor of the Mission Bay Tennis Club with the Frank Galantai Cup and Frank Galantai Tournament as regular features on the clubs calendar.

 

Our sincere condolences to his son Rod, his children and their families, and his numerous friends and colleagues. You will be greatly missed by all.

 

A Requiem Mass was held at St Ignatius Catholic Church, 12 Kotiri Street, St Heliers, on Monday 4th December. In lieu of flowers, a generous donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. State of Grace East 09 527 0366
 

 

Stephen Falvey 1Stephen Falvey – Uniplas Ltd

Stephen Falvey passed away on Thursday 30 November 2017, aged 68.


Stephen had over 30+ years’ experience in the plastics supply and manufacturing industry. In 1998, he acquired All Plastics Ltd, an injection moulding and plasticware manufacturing and distribution operation based in Lower Hutt.  In 2006 All Plastics Ltd merged with its neighbour Lamnei Plastics to form Uniplas NZ Ltd, specialising in custom injection moulding and toolmaking.

Stephen has been a long term Member of Plastics New Zealand and a strong Member of the Wellington Branch for many years. He served as Wellington Branch President, and was on the National Executive from 2008 until his retirement in 2016. Stephen also served as Chairman of the Board of PaMPITO.

Stephen was presented with the Baekeland Award at the 2014 at the 70th Anniversary Annual Conference in Queenstown. The Baekeland Award is made periodically by Plastics New Zealand for an individual’s outstanding contributions to the plastics industry.  It is an award made in recognition of exceptional work usually in the technical, commercial or education and training fields, but is not necessarily limited to these areas.

Stephen’s presentation of the award was the seventh made in the history of the Society. The award was made in recognition of Stephens’s dedication and outstanding commitment to Industry Training and PaMPITO.

Our sincere condolences to his wife Jenny, his children and their families, and his numerous friends and colleagues. You will be greatly missed by all.


A service for Stephen was held on Wednesday 6th December at 2.30pm at St Barnabas Church, 106 Mana Esplanade, Mana.
